As it turns out, the two Pokemon were best friends at a daycare. However, they were separated after they were taken by two different trainers. They did not see each other since... until now. They immediately recognized each other when they got a better look. They went to the middle of the ring, and high-fived with their paws. This was just going to be a training battle 'casue they rather see how the other has grown since they were separated.
